Septic Smart Seal

SepticSmart Week
September 17--23, 2018

In 2013, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency started SepticSmart Week, a public education effort to inform homeowners living on properties serviced by septic systems about the importance of properly maintaining their systems and to provide resources to help homeowners make important decisions regarding their wastewater management needs. The sixth SepticSmart Week is slated for September 17 through 23, 2018. The National Environmental Services Center is honoring this event by highlighting different services we offer related to septic systems and onsite wastewater treatment.

The National Environmental Services Center (NESC) began with the National Small Flows Clearinghouse in 1979. Small Flows developed and provided information for wastewater treatment of one million gallons and less, and became a national leader in onsite and decentralized wastewater treatment. Nearly all of the Small Flows materials are available on the NESC website: www.nesc.wvu.edu.
